Growth for the MSU College of Engineering

On Feb. 11, Prospera will host a TechAlliance workshop on "Growth for the MSU College of Engineering An Opportunity and a Call for Action," with Dr. Brett W. Gunnink, P.E., Dean, Montana State University College of Engineering.

This TechAlliance session will provide attendees with information regarding the latest developments at Montana State University's fastest growing school, the College of Engineering. Attendees will learn about recent enrollment trends and other developments at the MSU College of Engineering, opportunities for the local business community related to this growth, and how individuals and their companies can be involved in the MSU College of Engineering's continued success.

Dr. Brett W. Gunnink has recently been appointed Dean of the College of Engineering for Montana State University after serving as Acting Dean since 2012. Dr. Gunnink arrived at Montana State University-Bozeman (MSU) in 2002, when he became its Civil Engineering Department Head. He previously acted as Assistant Department Head and Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia (MU). Dr. Gunnink has conducted research concerning trenchless construction, the durability of concrete, the pore structure of geomaterials, the design of foundations (including bucking capacity of helical soil piers), and coal log fabrication. He has taught courses related to Design of Concrete and Pavements, Civil Engineering Materials, Strength of Materials, Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Planning and Scheduling and Civil Engineering Systems Design.

Dr. Gunnink received the MU Gold Chalk Award in 1993 for his significant contributions to the education and training of graduate and professional students. Dr. Gunnink is a registered Professional Engineer and member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and The Order of the Engineer. He received his BS in Construction Engineering, an MS in Geotechnical Engineering and a PhD in Civil Engineering Materials all from Iowa State University. Dr. Gunnink has supervised numerous PhD, MS and undergraduate research projects, authored or co-authored over 35 technical publications and is the co-inventor for two U.S. patents.

This event will be held on Feb. 11, from 12:00 - 1:15 p.m. Cost is $15 for Prospera members and $25 for non-members and includes catered lunch and materials. Advance registration is required by Feb. 7 at www.ProsperaBusinessNework.org
