Bozeman Film Fest screens 'Philomena'
7:30 PM
Emerson Center's Crawford Theatre
The Bozeman Film Festival will screen the Oscar-nominated film, Philomena Thursday, April 10th at 7:30 pm in the Emerson's Crawford Theatre. Based on the book, The Lost Child of Philomena Lee, the film stars Judi Dench and Steve Coogan. It tells the true story of Lee's 50-year search for her son, taken from her after she gave birth while working in a convent. The Catholic Church had the child adopted, and now, decades later, Philomena is introduced to freelance journalist Martin Sixsmith, who agrees to help her find her son. Along the way, the type-A Martin and the ceaselessly charming Philomena discover some long-buried secrets.
Directed by Stephen Frears, this British-French-American comedy-drama is rated PG-13 and runs 98 minutes. The Q Network Film Desk's James Kendrick proclaims Philomena is "equal parts uplifting tearjerker, odd-couple comedy, and righteous screed against abuse of power in the name of religion."
Tickets are $8/General and $7/Students & Seniors, available at Cactus Records and in the Emerson's lobby one hour before the film. Enjoy a no-host social hour from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Visit Bozemanfilmfestival.org for previews and up-to-date information -- and Keep 'em Flickering!
