Description:
Dead Zones in Our Backyard
If Montana is the 11th largest contributor to the Dead Zone in the Gulf of Mexico, what is happening to the waters in our own backyard? The Bozeman Public Library
will host a conversation entitled Dead in the Water on the problems and solutions regarding nutrient loaded water in Montana at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 4, 2008.
Join inventor Bruce Kania, owner of Floating Islands International, for a brief PowerPoint presentation on anoxic zones in freshwater systems and the need for municipalities and agriculture leaders to become more involved in both preventing and solving the problems. Thomas L. Pick, a Water Quality Specialist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service and Tim Muholland, an Environmental Engineer will also be on hand to expand the discussion.
