Longest Day of Trails
12:00 PM Montana Ale Works
Description:
The Gallatin Valley Land Trust and
the GAS/Intrinsik Architecture cycling team invite the public to
participate in the second annual Longest Day of Trails on June 20th. Headquartered
at Montana Ale Works east parking lot on East Main – the Longest Day of
Trails is a dawn-to-dusk celebration of Bozeman’s extraordinary trail
system and a membership drive for the non-profit Gallatin Valley Land
Trust (GVLT). Most will agree that Bozeman’s network of trails is one of our community’s most precious resources. However,
not everyone knows that the GVLT is responsible for constructing and
maintaining these connective pathways that bind our neighborhoods and
downtown to the surrounding mountains. To showcase the Main Street to the Mountains trail
system – organizer, Dan Harding and members of the GAS/Intrinsik
Architecture cycling team will continuously ride a meandering 25-mile
loop through town from sunrise to sunset. Last summer Harding rode 175 miles during the seventeen hours of daylight on the Summer Solstice. This year the goal is 200+. As
always, there are never any fees to use Bozeman’s trail system – so,
get out and enjoy the trails and become a member of GVLT. The
best way to learn about the Gallatin Valley Land Trust and to support
their efforts is to stop by the Longest Day of Trails headquarters on
Friday, June 20th. Incentive gift packages
from local businesses will be provided to individuals who become GVLT
members on the Longest Day of Trails. Additionally,
Montana Ale Works will host the Longest Day of Trails party at sunset
where a custom-built Carl Strong bicycle worth over $3200 will be
raffled to benefit the GVLT. For

25-mile Main Street to Mountains loop and details regarding the Carl
Strong bicycle raffle please log onto www.longestdayoftrails.com or www.gvlt.org.
