A significant festival in Hinduism Sikhism and Jainism, Diwali is celebrated on the first day of the lunar Karita month, where the lights represent the victory of good over evil, and as the last harvest of the year is finished, and prayers for a good year ahead are made.

The Indian Student Association at MSU invite the public to join in celebrating this holiday, sharing in Indian culture, song and dance while tasting delicious Indian food. This is a tremendous opportunity for exposure to a world that we do not often see or experience in Montana.

With the success of last year's Diwali night, ISA has moved the moved the presentations to the Ballrooms in the Strand Union Building and created a new line up of singing and dancing that is sure to entertain all ages.

Cultural Performances of:

Bharatanatyam (classical Indian dance), a traditional dance-form known for its grace, purity, tenderness, and sculpturesque poses. Today, it is one of the most popular and widely performed dance styles and is practiced by many dancers all over the world.

Bollywood Dance (regional Indian dances)

Musical Performaces

Ramayana - an ancient Sanskrit epic. It is attributed to the Hindu sage Valmiki and forms an important part of the Hindu canon . The Ramayana is one of the two great epics of India, the other being Mahabharata. It depicts the duties of relationships, portraying ideal characters like the ideal servant, the ideal brother, the ideal wife and the ideal king.

Tickets are $5 - children under 8 are free of charge.
Tickets available Monday 11/16 and Friday 11/20 in the Strand Union Building near the Cat Card Office from 11-2 - or through the Diversity Awareness Office between 12-5.
