International Mountain Day
6:00 PM Emerson Cultural Center
Description:
On Dec. 11, MSU and community partners host International Mountain Day, featuring Conrad Anker, MSU geologist Dr. Dave Lageson, graduate student Travis Corthouts, and an exhibitors' fair and concessions.
The event, which was begun by the United Nations and is celebrated throughout the world, is an opportunity to create awareness about the importance of mountains to life, to highlight the opportunities and constraints in mountain development and to build partnerships that will bring positive change to the world's mountains and highlands.
The event takes place in the ballroom and theatre of Bozeman's Emerson Cultural Center.
The exhibitor's fair from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. will feature MSU departments and community organizations. Featured speakers, beginning at 7 p.m., include mountaineer/author Conrad Anker, MSU geologist Dr. David Lageson, and MSU graduate student Travis Corthouts.
Admission is free.
The event is sponsored by the MSU Office of International Programs, the Institute on Ecosystems, MSU Extended University, and Montana NSF EPSCoR.
