Salvatore Vasapolli’s photographs of the Northern Rockies Region are among the finest expressions of the color landscape being done today. He melds an intuitive sense for the quality of early morning and late evening light with a formalist style that combines nature’s intimate details within landscapes of dramatic space. The Museum’s exhibition of 27 large-format landscapes represents a selection of Vasapolli’s best photographic work produced during his many years photographing in Montana and Wyoming. His recently published large-format tabletop book, Montana, with text written by Montana’s former congressman, Pat Williams, is the 2004 World and North American SAPPI Gold Medal winner. Vasapolli’s work hangs in many private collections and corporate offices from New York to California.
