Carmen Sidetrip for Wonderlust

Description:
The Wonderlust section of MSU’s Extended University will offer a free “side-trip” class on Friday, May 9, from 3 to 5 PM at the Pilgrim Congregational Church. Steven Daigle of Rochester, New York, who will provide stage direction for “Carmen,” and Julian Dawson will be there to discuss the challenges of bringing a grand opera to life on the Willson Auditorium stage. Several of the singers – who come to Bozeman from professional opera companies around the nation -- will provide the Wonderlust audience with singing samples of their talent. IOA artistic director Linda Curtis and production coordinator Margaret Cone will also be available to answer questions about the production. While the program is open to the public, and free, the sponsors ask people to call 994-6683 to let them know how many people to expect.
The IOA performances of Bizet’s beloved opera open at 7 PM will be May 14 and 16 at 7 PM and May 18 at 3 PM. Tickets are still on sale at the IOA office in downtown Bozeman (phone 585-7545) or on-line (go to operabozeman.org for the link).
