Description:
Treasure State Remnants: Montana’s Ghost Town Heritage Photography by Lee Silliman Bozeman Public Library Atrium Gallery
The public is invited to join the Bozeman Public Library Foundation for a reception on Friday, November 6, 2009, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. celebrating the opening of Treasure State Remnants: Montana’s Ghost Town Heritage, an exhibit of photographs by Lee Silliman.
Silliman has been photographing ghost towns and other historical relics since 1991. His tool of choice is a classical 8 x 10 inch view camera loaded with black and white film – a medium which actually flourished during the nineteenth century. Richly annotated with historical descriptions, his evocative images tell the story of Montana’s abandoned mining camps and other remnants of former economic activity. His work has been displayed at Ft. Missoula Historical Center, High Plains Heritage Center, Powell County Museum Gallery, and Yellowstone National Park.
