Stephanie
Frostad 's symbolic figures live within expressive landscapes in her
large oil paintings on display in the Wllber Gallery from April 11 -
June 20th.
This eight-hour workshop will introduce participants to basic
techniques for composing naturalistic paintings with the aid of
two-dimensional references. Each person brings a selection of sketches,
photos, photocopies or other reproductions to inform their individual
work. Students will develop a value study the first day, enhanced by a
full color palette the second day.
The first day will focus on exploring the composition and
establishing convincing space and light. Common drawing materials, oil
painting supplies are necessary. By working additively and
subtractively into a wet ground, we will complete a monocrhrome
under-painting that will dry overnight.
