The Bozeman Sculpture Park Lecture Series Continues with Charles Ringer
7:00 PM Bozeman Public Library
Description:
On Wednesday evening, June 20, the last lecture of this Bozeman Sculpture Park (BSP) 9 part series recognizes the work of Bozeman sculptor Charles Ringer. Charles is a very experienced as well as talented artist whose works are indoor and outdoor animated kinetic and geometric sculptures. His lecture will focus on his steel sculpture in the BSP titled "Any Which Way--2011." Charles has this to say about his sculpture: "Any Which Way" came to me while watching the wind, which can change course instantly. Each axis represents one of the four directions. The colors are symbolic of the changing temperatures occurring as different weather patterns move through. I chose square steel tubing for the moving piece and pedestal, because it continues the theme of four directions. Wind driven sculptures reflect a relationship between the human and natural elements."
Charles attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and has maintained his studio, gallery and home in Joliet since 1971. His work has been included in countless exhibitions over the years and he is represented in numerous public and private collections around the country. His comments about his creative process provide a glimpse of the philosophy he uses for his work. "For me, art is a delicate balance of mental imagination and physical translation. In my work, the trial and error method has assured an insight into this balance. Art is the physical projection of mental creativity, allowing the observer their own interpretation. The combination of this communication is synergistic, the end result infinite."
Conversation about his sculpture in BSP is strongly encouraged.
This final BSP lecture will be held in the Community Meeting Room of Bozeman Public Library from 7-8 pm followed by a reception for the artist. All lectures in BSP series are free and all are welcome.
