Dare to Dream and Salud/Health
2:00 PM
Bozeman Public Library
Description:
Wonder why Cuba has one of the world’s leading health outcomes? Screening on Sunday, April 7th, from 2-5 PM, at the Bozeman Library, two films provide an answer: Dare to Dream and Salud/Health examine Cuba’s Health Care system based on health care as a human right and its commitment to both health equity and global solidarity. Dare to Dream, an official selection of the 2019 Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles, tells the story of the largest medical school in the world, the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in Havana, through the eyes of U.S. students who received scholarships with the commitment to practice medicine in under-served communities. Salud/Health shares Cuba’s commitment to global health equity and solidarity though a medical peace corps in nations underserved by doctors and public health. This event will showcase our Montana-Cuba Health Project designed to reach out to Montana’s pre-med students, health care professionals and advocates interested in health care as a human right.

But wait, there’s more! Be sure to save the dates for Cuba Travel Talk and Tips on Sunday, April 28 when GVAC is hosted at Bozeman Brewery FUNDay, from 2 to 8 PM, so come join us for great beer and special Raffle of arts, crafts, Che memorabilia and music direct from Cuba to raise funds for the Montana-Cuba Health Project.

And for another Cuba Travel Talk and Tips, join us at MAP Brewing for Community Pint Night on Monday, June 3, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM! Live music to be announced and the latest Raffle prizes from Cuba!

Gallatin Valley Friends of Cuba, a volunteer community organization, educates and advocates for the establishment of mutually beneficial diplomatic relations between the nations of Cuba and the United States.
