Montana Threat Assessment Conference

Montana State University will host the 2018 Montana Threat Assessment Conference on May 14-16 in the Strand Union Building.

The conference will feature Capt. John Pelletier of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and Capt. Mark Kittelson of the Clark County Fire Department, who will discuss the response and recovery following the Oct. 30, 2017, mass shooting in Las Vegas.

Also featured will be FBI task force officer Peter Wickham and FBI intelligence analyst Jeffrey Horton, who will review the 2016 vehicle ramming and stabbing attack at Ohio State University and discuss lessons learned from the incident.

Also on the agenda are talks by representatives from MSU’s Behavioral Intervention Team, which examines potential threats based on behavioral indicators; the Department of Homeland Security; the Department of Energy’s Office of Radiological Security; the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation and the state’s Department of Justice. Topics discussed will include protecting critical infrastructure, cybersecurity, behavioral analysis and threat identification. The conference is intended for professionals in law enforcement, school safety and administration, mental health, event security and anyone interested in learning more about threat assessment.

Registration costs $200 until April 16, after which the price increases to $225. Lodging and meals are available on campus for conference attendees.

The conference is presented by MSU Police Department and the Montana Analysis and Technical Information Center.
